Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Security Lab: Terminal handles information when you use the app. Security Lab: Terminal is a single-player educational cybersecurity simulation designed to run primarily on your device.

Effective: 27 August 2026 Last updated: 23 October 2026 Developer: Adrian Dmitruk Version covered: 5.2 ECHO PROTOCOL and earlier supported versions
At a glance

Privacy-first by design

The developer does not operate an advertising network, analytics platform, or separate user-account service for Security Lab: Terminal. The app stores gameplay progress and settings locally, including ECHO PROTOCOL investigations and console customisation. It supports optional Apple Game Center leaderboards and achievements (including BLACKOUT 5.1 and ECHO PROTOCOL 5.2) and uses Apple's native StoreKit system for occasional rating requests.

Short version: no third-party ads, no cross-app advertising tracking, no developer-operated account database, and no sale of personal information.
01 • Developer data

Information collected directly by the developer

Security Lab: Terminal does not require you to create a developer-operated account. The developer does not intentionally collect through the app information such as your name, email address, precise location, contacts, photos, browsing history, or advertising identifier.

  • No developer-operated account registration.
  • No third-party advertising SDKs.
  • No third-party analytics SDKs are currently integrated.
  • No sale of personal information.
02 • On-device storage

Gameplay data stored locally

The app stores information on your device so that gameplay can function and progress can be restored. This may include:

  • campaign, mission and challenge progress;
  • XP, reputation, skills, achievements and mastery progress;
  • simulated SOC, incident, forensic, malware, hunting and network state;
  • BLACKOUT crisis state, team assignments, resources, intelligence, command decisions, operations, timeline and final report;
  • ECHO PROTOCOL case progress, examined evidence, hypotheses, response decisions, completion history and in-game consequences;
  • Game Center scores, achievement progress, submissions waiting for synchronization and per-player synchronization status stored on the device;
  • terminal/gameplay output and simulation history;
  • app preferences, including terminal text and background colours, background transparency, effects, audio, haptics and guidance settings;
  • limited information used to manage App Store rating requests, including session counts and dates, the first recorded app-use date, and the date and app version of the last request attempt.

This information is stored on your device and is not uploaded to a developer-operated server. Game Center submissions, when enabled, are sent to Apple as described below. Rating-request history is used locally to limit repeated prompts.

03 • Apple service

Apple Game Center

Security Lab: Terminal optionally uses Apple Game Center. If you are signed in, the app may submit gameplay-related leaderboard scores and achievement progress to Apple, including BLACKOUT 5.1 Crisis Response results and ECHO PROTOCOL 5.2 achievements.

Game Center authentication and account information are managed by Apple. When signed in, the app can access your Game Center display name to show connection status and an Apple-provided player identifier to associate locally cached synchronization records with the correct Game Center account. Unsent scores and achievements are stored on the device and can be synchronized when Game Center is available, including after sign-in or when the app becomes active. You can play the core simulation without Game Center. The developer does not operate a separate Game Center account database or use Game Center identifiers for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Apple's handling of Game Center information is governed by Apple's privacy practices. You can review Game Center & Privacy and manage relevant Game Center settings through your Apple device and Apple Account. Your Game Center profile, scores and achievements may be visible to others according to your Apple settings.

04 • Apple service

App Store ratings and reviews

The app may occasionally ask you to rate it using Apple's native StoreKit review prompt. To avoid repeated or poorly timed requests, it stores limited session and request-attempt information locally as described above. Apple controls whether the prompt is shown and handles any rating or review you choose to submit. The app does not receive confirmation that you submitted a review, and it does not send its local request history to the developer. You can manage in-app rating and review prompts in your device's App Store settings.

05 • Educational simulation

Network and cybersecurity content

Security Lab: Terminal is an educational cybersecurity simulation. Hosts, IP addresses, ports, vulnerabilities, exploits, malware samples, incidents, forensic evidence, threat intelligence and network activity presented as part of gameplay are fictional or simulated training content.

The gameplay systems are not designed to scan, attack, exploit, compromise or modify real external networks or systems. Simulated offensive-security actions operate within the app's training environment.

06 • Tracking & advertising

No advertising tracking

Security Lab: Terminal does not contain third-party advertising SDKs and does not use the app to track users across apps or websites owned by other companies for advertising or advertising measurement.

The developer does not sell personal information obtained through Security Lab: Terminal.

07 • Retention

Storage and deletion

Local gameplay data remains on your device until it is reset using available in-app reset functionality, removed by the operating system, or deleted when the app is removed, subject to normal device backup and restore behavior. A gameplay reset may not remove separate app preferences, Game Center synchronization records or review-prompt history.

Because the developer does not maintain a server-side copy of this local gameplay data, the developer generally cannot retrieve or delete it remotely. Locally queued Game Center submissions remain on your device until they are synchronized or the relevant local data is removed. Information already processed by Apple through Game Center is managed through Apple's services and applicable account controls; resetting the game does not necessarily remove records held by Apple.

08 • Children

Children's privacy

The developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children through a developer-operated account, advertising system or analytics service in Security Lab: Terminal. Game Center, when used, is an Apple service and is subject to the user's Apple Account, device settings and applicable Apple family or parental controls.

09 • Privacy choices

Your choices and requests

You can reset local game progress using the app's reset functionality where available, or remove locally stored app data by deleting the app. You can use the local simulation without signing in to Game Center and adjust terminal appearance and guidance from the app's settings. You can also disable in-app rating and review prompts in your device's App Store settings. Game Center preferences, profile visibility and information already submitted to Apple are managed through Apple's services and device/account settings.

Because the developer does not maintain a separate user-account database containing your local game progress, there is generally no developer-held copy of that local data to access, export, correct or erase. For privacy questions relating specifically to the developer, contact us using the details below.

10 • Policy updates

Changes to this Privacy Policy

This policy may be updated when Security Lab: Terminal's features, integrated services, or data practices change. When material changes are made, the “Last updated” date at the top of this page will be revised. The current published version of this page is the applicable Privacy Policy. This update clarifies ECHO PROTOCOL 5.2 investigation data, terminal preferences, StoreKit review requests and optional Game Center synchronization, while retaining the disclosures for BLACKOUT 5.1.

App Store privacy information

The privacy information displayed on the App Store should be kept consistent with the current version of this policy and the app's actual behavior. If Security Lab: Terminal later adds services such as developer-operated accounts, analytics, advertising, crash-reporting services, cloud storage, or other data-processing features, the relevant privacy disclosures will be reviewed and updated.
